X1: Humanoid + Transforming Drone Hybrid

Caltech and the UAE’s Technology Innovation Institute unveiled X1, a novel multirobot system: a humanoid robot carries a drone on its back, which can detach to fly or drive independently.
The system aims for multimodal mobility and adaptive control — walking, flying, driving — with onboard autonomy and real-time perception.
