Alphabet subsidiary Wing is evaluating Nvidia’s Jetson Orin Nano 2 AI computing module for its delivery-drone fleet. The technology could give Wing aircraft greater onboard processing capability for perception and reasoning while remaining sufficiently energy efficient for small autonomous aircraft.
Why it matters: The aerospace-autonomy stack is increasingly moving toward edge AI, where aircraft process sensor information locally instead of depending heavily on cloud connectivity. More capable onboard GPUs could support better obstacle avoidance, landing-site assessment and autonomous contingency management.
