US Navy Consolidates Autonomous Systems Acquisition

The Navy is creating a new acquisition office to oversee its uncrewed systems: the Portfolio Acquisition Executive for Robotic Autonomous Systems.

This consolidation could cover up to 66 programs from across 18 different offices, streamlining how the Navy buys and fields autonomous maritime platforms.

The move reflects how central unmanned systems are becoming to the Navy’s future force structure.
