Ukrainian defense company Uforce presented the MV7 unmanned surface vessel in the United Kingdom on August 4. The vessel is based on experience gained from Ukraine’s Magura-family naval drones but was adapted with assistance from British Formula 1 engineers for longer-range operations in rougher Atlantic conditions.
Potential missions include:
- Long-range reconnaissance and strike operations
- Submarine and intelligence-collection-ship detection
- Protection of subsea cables and offshore infrastructure
- Interception of hostile or sanctions-evading vessels
- Coordinated swarm operations
The MV7 reportedly completed initial sea trials off southern England in July. Uforce was discussing the platform with British defense officials, but no Royal Navy contract had been announced as of August 4.
Why it matters: The platform reflects the movement of Ukrainian combat-proven maritime-drone technology into Western naval markets. It also demonstrates a shift from expendable attack boats toward reusable, modular and multi-mission autonomous vessels.
