Toyota’s Investment in Interstellar Technologies

On January 7, 2025, Toyota’s research unit, Woven by Toyota, announced a ¥7 billion (approximately $44.4 million) investment in Japanese startup Interstellar Technologies (IST) to support the mass production of rockets. This partnership aims to strengthen IST’s supply chains and corporate governance, marking Toyota’s expansion into the space sector. IST is known for being the first Japanese company to send a commercially developed rocket into space and is currently developing its orbital launcher, Zero.
