The armed-USV trend continues following Saildrone’s RIMPAC missile demonstration

Recent reporting continued to focus on the Navy’s successful demonstration of a Saildrone Surveyor equipped with Lockheed Martin’s Adjunct Remote Engagement System, which launched two JAGM missiles during RIMPAC 2026. The platform also participated in electronic-warfare operations with an MH-60S helicopter. Although the demonstration occurred earlier, coverage during the past week underscores an important maritime trend: commercially derived autonomous vessels are rapidly transitioning from ISR and oceanographic missions toward distributed sensing, electronic warfare and kinetic strike.
