South Korea opened applications today for new Urban Air Mobility pilot-operation zones

The program is intended to establish operational areas ahead of the country’s planned 2028 UAM commercialization, giving cities and regional governments an opportunity to develop real-world air-mobility corridors and infrastructure.
Why it matters: the UAM race is increasingly becoming a city-infrastructure race, not just an aircraft-development competition. Cities need vertiports, airspace-management systems, charging infrastructure and multimodal connections before air taxis can scale.
