San Mateo County is considering what could become one of the first U.S. local regulatory frameworks specifically for commercial humanoid robots

The proposal would address deployment and operation of humanoids before they become commonplace in businesses and public environments. 
Why it matters: regulation is moving closer to the physical-AI layer. Issues such as liability, human safety, data collection and operation around the public could become important barriers—or competitive moats—for companies trying to deploy humanoids commercially.
