PteroDynamics’ Transwing VTOL Drone

The US Navy is exploring the use of motorcycle-sized drones for delivering critical repair parts to incapacitated warships. PteroDynamics Inc. has developed a unique “Transwing” VTOL drone with an articulating wing design that allows it to switch between fixed-wing flight and quadcopter configuration. The Navy has invested over $7 million in developing the XP-5 model.
