Pennsylvania lawmakers are pushing back against fully autonomous public buses

A proposal highlighted today would require autonomous buses operating in Pennsylvania to have a licensed human driver onboard, effectively preventing truly driverless transit-bus operations. 
Why it matters: autonomous public transportation may face a very different regulatory path from robotaxis. Labor concerns, passenger safety and accountability could slow removal of human operators even when Level 4 technology is technically capable of driverless operation.
