Nvidia + LG deepen the “physical AI” infrastructure investment thesis

News today highlights Nvidia’s agreement with LG Group to develop a next-generation bipedal humanoid robot using Nvidia’s Isaac GR00T foundation model and Jetson Thor computing platform. LG plans to unveil the robot in Q1 2027. The companies are also collaborating on wheeled robots and vehicle computing.

This follows Nvidia’s expanding relationships across robotics, including Unitree.

PE/VC takeaway: The investment opportunity increasingly extends beyond robot OEMs. A potentially lower-risk picks-and-shovels thesis is emerging around:

  • edge compute and AI accelerators
  • actuators and motion-control systems
  • perception/sensors
  • simulation and synthetic data
  • robot foundation models
  • battery/power systems
  • fleet-management software

Nvidia’s involvement also gives investors another signal that physical AI is evolving into a distinct venture category rather than simply an extension of industrial automation
