NASA’s Autonomous Underwater Robots for Icy Moons

NASA is developing the Sensing With Independent Micro-swimmers (SWIM) project, featuring palm-sized autonomous underwater robots designed to explore the subsurface oceans of Jupiter’s Europa and Saturn’s Enceladus. These micro-swimmers will be deployed via a nuclear-powered “cryobot” that melts through the ice, aiming to detect signs of extraterrestrial life.
