French shipping giant CMA CGM has announced a $20 billion investment in the U.S. maritime and logistics sectors over the next four years. This initiative aims to triple the company’s U.S.-flagged fleet, upgrade port facilities, and establish a new airfreight hub in Chicago, potentially creating 10,000 jobs. The investment includes allocations of $8 billion for containerships, $7 billion for logistics, $4 billion for ports, and $1 billion for air cargo. This move aligns with efforts to bolster the U.S. maritime industry and reduce reliance on foreign shipbuilding.
