GE Aerospace has partnered with Merlin Labs to develop a next-generation autonomy / pilot-assist platform, called Autonomy Core, intended for both military and civil aircraft.
- The system aims to enable single-pilot operations (SPO), reduce crew workload, and pave the path toward optionally unmanned flight.
- GE already has flight management systems installed on over 14,000 aircraft globally, giving it a strong installed base for adoption of “Autonomy Core.”
- One early use case is retrofitting autonomy into the U.S. Air Force’s aging KC-135 Stratotanker via its Cockpit Component Refresh (CCR) program.
