Europe’s Iris² Satellite Deal

Europe has signed a €10.6 billion contract to build the Iris² satellite network, aiming to rival Elon Musk’s Starlink. This project seeks to provide high-speed connectivity to European governments and citizens, enhancing Europe’s strategic autonomy and defense capabilities. The network will consist of 290 satellites in low and medium Earth orbits, expected to commence operations by early 2030.
