China’s robotaxi and autonomous delivery rollout grows — with social challenges

In China, autonomous taxis are now operating in about 20 cities (e.g., Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen) under geofenced programs. This rapid scale-up is raising concerns about job displacement for millions of drivers and delivery workers. Some estimates project the robotaxi market reaching $47 billion by 2035.
