Blade, a helicopter service company, has introduced a high-end commuter service offering flights from Long Island and New Jersey to a West Side hub in New York City for $95 per ride. This service, which aims to avoid the $9 congestion toll recently implemented in the city, is targeted at affluent professionals and runs Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Commuters can park at JFK or Newark airports and take a five-minute flight to Hudson Yards. An annual $195 pass is required to access these flights. Blade aims to provide a faster, more convenient commuting option compared to traditional driving and public transit, and plans to transition to quiet, emission-free aircraft in the future. The company is also exploring more routes and developing urban air mobility as ground traffic increases and electric aircraft technology advances.
