BAE Systems is partnering with Forterra to develop a prototype of an autonomous version of the Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle (AMPV). The goal is to field a demonstrator by 2026, compressing the traditional development timeline. Forterra’s autonomy stack, AutoDrive, will be integrated into the vehicle.
This is significant because it pushes autonomy into armored maneuver units, not just logistics or support.
